Delaware State 38, Millersville 6
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Rodney Roy rushed for 133 yards and two
touchdowns to lead Delaware State to a 38-6 win over Millersville
on Saturday.
Vashon Winton threw a 77-yard pass to Shaheer McBride for a
third touchdown for Delaware State (2-0). Winton completed 14 of 18
passes for 193 yards for the Hornets and McBride had seven catches
for 140 yards.
Millersville (2-1) got on the scoreboard for the first time with
7:21 left in the second quarter when Doug Ruhl's 32-yard field goal
cut the Hornets' lead to 28-3.
Delaware State's Peter Gaertner hit a 46-yard field goal to give
the Hornets a 31-3 lead at the half.
A second 32-yard field goal by Ruhl cut the Hornets' lead to
31-6, but Delaware State closed out the scoring on Billy
Henderson's 8-yard touchdown run with 13:47 left to play.
Juan Jones rushed 74 yards on 15 carries for the Marauders. Dan
Csencsitz completed 16 of 31 passes for 164 yards.
Delaware State outgained Millersville 471-262, while out-rushing
the Marauders 236-98.
The point total was the most for the Hornets since a 41-9 win
over Savannah State in 2002. It was also the team's largest margin
of victory since that game.
