News: 2 days agoJohnson (neck) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Spin: Johnson's lack of participation in Friday's practice session appears to have been indicative of his playing status for Sunday's contest. The tight end will not be able to overcome his neck injury in time for Week 7 and will have to look toward the Giants' Week 9 contest against the Eagles after the bye.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Johnson was a solid find by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, but he's headed for a reduced role this season following New York's signing of Isaiah Likely and Malik Nabers' return to health. The change comes after Johnson ranked top 12 among tight ends in both snaps and routes, but 23rd in catches and 19th in yards last season. Johnson was busy near the goal line (seven end zone targets), but struggled with drops (tight end-high nine), which led to a poor 63% catch rate. Johnson finished 23rd in fantasy PPG and now may be lucky to see a target or two per game. He's well off the fantasy radar.
