USC Trojans @ North Carolina Tar Heels

Hull's walk-off double sends North Carolina to MCWS
Owen Hull hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap a dramatic two-run rally, sending North Carolina to the Men's College World Series with a 4-3 victory over USC in a winner-take-all super regional game Sunday at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels trailed 3-2 entering the final frame. After a one-out walk to Cooper Nicholson and a single by Carter French, Jake Schaffner tied the score with a sacrifice fly to center field. Following a walk to Gavin Gallaher, Hull drove a pitch to deep left, scoring French from second to clinch the victory and a trip to Omaha. Hull was the offensive star for North Carolina, going 4-for-5 with four doubles and two RBIs. Macon Winslow also drove in a run with an RBI double in the eighth that cut the deficit to one. Starter Caden Glauber allowed three runs on six hits over 7⅓ innings, striking out 11.
USC built its lead on the strength of two solo home runs. Kevin Takeuchi gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, and Andrew Lamb extended it to 3-1 with his own shot in the fifth. The Trojans' first run came in the opening inning on a balk. Takeuchi and Lamb each finished with two hits. Trojans starting pitcher Andrew Johnson kept the Tar Heels to two runs on seven hits over 7⅔ innings, striking out four, before the bullpen was unable to hold the lead.
The win sends North Carolina to the MCWS for the ninth time in the last 20 years. The loss extends USC's Omaha drought to 25 years despite the Trojans being just three outs away from advancing.
Up next: North Carolina will face Ole Miss at the MCWS. USC's season has ended.
