Women's divisional rankings: Serrano retains top spot with 50th career win

Amanda Serrano earned the 50th victory of her career with a majority decision over Lucrecia Manzur at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California on Friday night.

Serrano (50-4-1, 32 KOs) was behind on all three scorecards after six rounds, but rallied in the second half of the fight to retain the WBO and WBA featherweight titles.

Serrano entered the fight tied with Christy Martin for the most knockouts in women's boxing history(32), but she couldn't break the record. The future Hall of Famer said after the fight that she plans to compete one more time before retiring.

With the victory, Serrano retains the No. 1 spot in the 126-pound rankings. Manzur enters the rankings at No. 5 after a strong performance against the seven-division champion.

Also on the card, Melissa Mortensen outslugged Mayelli Flores to win the vacant WBA junior featherweight title. Mortensen was knocked down in Round 2 but recovered to earn a split decision with scorecards of 95-94, 95-94 and 94-95.

Mortensen (10-0, 5 KOs) enters the 122-pound rankings at No. 4, while Flores (13-3-1, 4 KOs) drops two spots to No. 5.

Rankings are updated every Tuesday. They're based on recent bouts, head-to-head competition and the quality of opponent. As with almost everything, until fighters square off against one another, there is a layer of subjectivity to it. Fighters who haven't fought in 18 months and don't have a fight scheduled will be removed from the rankings until they fight again.
