Best of the college football recruiting visits: Big 12

The Texas Longhorns came out this weekend as the big winners on the field and on the recruiting trail. Texas hosted a large group of unofficial visitors this weekend in the Cotton Bowl, and the Longhorns couldn’t have picked a more perfect of an outcome to impress recruits. Here’s a look at some key Big 12 recruiting visits told through social media.

The cries for Charlie Strong’s head have calmed down, especially after the Longhorns pulled a major upset Saturday in the Red River Rivalry. Many top recruits from all over the Midlands were on hand, including three-star Texas linebacker pledge Demarco Boyd, who had some tremendous posts before, during and after the game.

Three-star Longhorn offensive line commit Tope Imad was also all over social media Saturday, and this (sideways) video sums up the way many Texas’ recruits felt after the game.

The game was definitely also an opportunity for the Longhorns to impress a number of Metroplex recruits in the senior and junior classes. Dallas Woodrow Wilson athlete Arkeba Batie posted this video with 2017 defensive back prospect and teammate Darrion Green before the game in the Cotton Bowl.

Texas ESPN 300 quarterback commit Shane Buechele was clearly excited with the game’s results. There were questions about other schools trying to pry Buechele away from the Longhorns early last week, but Buechele made it clear he was all in with Texas and this post continued to prove that.

With Kansas State playing host to TCU, the Wildcats used the opportunity to bring in a number of top recruits on their board. This includes cornerback Coney Durr, who made it very clear he was enjoying his time in Manhattan. It also didn’t hurt that the Wildcats almost upset second-ranked TCU.

The Wildcats also played host to a number of number of their commitments for unofficial visits, including three-star offensive line commitment Blake Hickey.
