The Minnesota Golden Gophers picked up a commitment Monday from 2014 defensive tackle Steven Richardson (Chicago/Mount Carmel), according to multiple sources.

Richardson, a 5-foot-11, 280-pound prospect, selected Minnesota over scholarship offers from Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. Illinois, North Carolina State and Vanderbilt also showed interest.

Minnesota has three pledges for 2014.
